Quality through design
All WRW Bamboo Fly Rods are individually handcrafted at my shop in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The rod tapers are my own, honed through years of trial and error to provide the ultimate in accuracy and feel. Hand planed from the choicest Tonkin bamboo available, the WRW fly rod is made to exacting standards resulting in a crisp, medium fast action, that promotes smooth, accurate casting. Appointed with mortised reel seats, the finest hardware, custom fitted turned flor grade grips, hand wrapped silk and finished with spar varnish, the finished fly rod is as aesthetically pleasing as it is a precision fishing tool. A brass capped anodized aluminum tube coupled with a WRW monogramed reinforced rod bag, complete the ensemble. Learn more about us here.
A quality bamboo fly rod has a smooth casting and easy loading quality with a delightful roll casting ability. The tempo of fishing itself is slower, with a full of fluid motion which is an advantage, particularly for dry-fly fishing. Anglers all over the country are rediscovering slower bamboo rods for tight, technical casting and dense cover, when bamboo’s ability to load short becomes crucial.
As a material, Tonkin bamboo is very strong and resilient. In fact, many bamboo fly rods made at the turn of the century are still very fishable today. With proper care your rod will last many lifetimes. Learn how to care for your bamboo fly rod.
